Prenatal care visits will happen in our office located in Old Town Temecula. For 1-1.5 hours we will explore nutritional counseling, holistic treatment for common pregnancy symptoms, and more to best meet your needs. We incorporate ancestral teachings to our midwifery practice through the use of herbs, storytelling, and more. Visits will also include documentation of vitals for you and your baby, measuring of your belly, and lab work. By taking a wholistic approach, we can help support yourself and baby in obtaining best outcomes and experiences.

An Indigenous Approach To Prenatal Care

Prenatal care is similar to that of what you would have with another care provider. It is as follows

  • 0-28 weeks: monthly

  • 28-36 weeks: biweekly

  • 36 weeks-birth: weekly

Labor, Birth, & Immediate Postpartum

At the onset of labor, we will be in contact via phone to assess your progress. As you become more active, your midwife and her team will come to your home. At your home she will monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing on a scheduled timetable to ensure everyone continues to remains low risk. Your midwife may encourage movement, use of hydrotherapy, and ensure you are well nourished and hydrated.

Upon the birth of your baby, your midwife will remain hands off on the new parent and baby, so long as thing continue to remain low risk. After delivery of the placenta, your midwife will assist with breastfeeding, conduct a perineal exam to determine if there are any lacerations to be sutured, and give the baby a head-to-toe exam. You will be given detailed instructions for both you and your baby, then be fed and tucked into bed as a new family.

Postpartum Care

You will receive 4-6 postpartum visits starting around day 2 up until 6 weeks postpartum. Visits will monitor your recovery, include use of herbal remedies, lactation support, newborn care/ monitoring, education, and more referrals if needed. Family planning and a PAP will be offered to families if they desire at the last visit.

Optional visits at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months are also available. These are apart of group postpartum care where you can connect with other families.
